Apple Rasam

Appe fruit along with tamarind water gives a unique taste. This can be taken as a soup or a spicy version can be had with rice.

Method:

  1. Add tamarind, crushed garlic, curry leaves,rasam powder, slit green chillies,water and boil.
  2. Peel the skin of apple and chop to small pieces. Add ghee in a pan and roast the apple till light brown and soft. Sprinkle salt while it is cooked.
  3. Cook toor dal with enough water and have the smashed dal ready.
  4. After the mixture is cooked enough, add cooked dal water. Cook for 3 minutes in simmer.
  5. Add apple pieces as needed, oregano powder, crushed pepper powder,red chilli powder(optional as per spice level) and cook for 2 min.
  6. Finally add lemon juice, tempering elements- mustard,cumin,hinge (asafoetida) roasted in ghee and switch off.

 

  1. Oregano powder can be replaced with dried oregano also.
