Appe fruit along with tamarind water gives a unique taste. This can be taken as a soup or a spicy version can be had with rice.
Method:
- Add tamarind, crushed garlic, curry leaves,rasam powder, slit green chillies,water and boil.
- Peel the skin of apple and chop to small pieces. Add ghee in a pan and roast the apple till light brown and soft. Sprinkle salt while it is cooked.
- Cook toor dal with enough water and have the smashed dal ready.
- After the mixture is cooked enough, add cooked dal water. Cook for 3 minutes in simmer.
- Add apple pieces as needed, oregano powder, crushed pepper powder,red chilli powder(optional as per spice level) and cook for 2 min.
- Finally add lemon juice, tempering elements- mustard,cumin,hinge (asafoetida) roasted in ghee and switch off.
- Oregano powder can be replaced with dried oregano also.
